Welcome Our New Executive Director: Veronica Stancliff

There Goes My Hero has appointed Veronica Stancliff as its next Executive Director. She brings to the role more than a decade of combined experience in nonprofit leadership, fundraising, marketing, operations and strategic development.

Prior to joining There Goes My Hero, Stancliff served as the Development, Operations and Marketing Manager for Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Eastern Shore, where she guided strategic planning, growth initiatives and policy development, and oversaw development, operations, communications and program support.

“We are thrilled to have Veronica take the helm at a pivotal moment for our organization as we position it for growth to increase our capacity to expand representation on the national bone marrow registry and provide more support for those impacted by blood cancer,” states Gina Ramsey, Board President for There Goes My Hero.

“The ability to support individuals and families navigating blood cancer resonates deeply with me and it is an honor to serve as the next leader of There Goes My Hero. I look forward to strengthening partnerships with regional businesses, community organizations and colleges to advance the mission and create more life-saving opportunities,” shares Stancliff.

Founded by two survivors of leukemia whose lives were saved by bone marrow donors, There Goes My Hero works with businesses, community organizations, colleges and events and festivals to host swab drives and educate people about blood cancer and bone marrow donations. Its mission is to save lives, provide hope and support those impacted by blood cancer.

In addition to increasing and diversifying the number of donors available on the national bone marrow registry, There Goes My Hero works with Johns Hopkins Hospital and University of Maryland Medical Center to provide patients with funds to support expenses during treatment that aren’t covered by insurance including parking, transportation, and meals. With the support of volunteers and corporate sponsors, There Goes My Hero also hosts monthly dinners – Meals with Heroes – at the Johns Hopkins Hackerman-Patz Patient and Family Pavilion.
