Volunteer Spotlight: Ava Lockerman

Ava is a junior at Bel Air High School who was searching through the Baltimore County Volunteer Center when she stumbled upon There Goes My Hero. When she learned about the ways she could make a difference in the lives of those impacted by blood cancer, she quickly jumped on board.

She first volunteered with There Goes My Hero back in December to create cards of encouragement for the patients and caregivers at the Johns Hopkins Hackerman-Patz Patient and Family Pavilion and the University of Maryland Medical Center. She knew by creating punny, encouraging cards, she could make someone’s day a little better. With the help of her friend, Grayson Button, they created 51 cards of encouragement.

Her commitment to service goes beyond her work with There Goes My Hero. As she applies for the National Honor Society, we recognize her dedication to both academics and community service, and we wish her the best of luck.
